UNDP Governance Unit is initiating the sub-national Human Development Report and Index (HDR/I) at provincial level. One of the key factors of success of regional development is a local government that is well-informed about the real situation of human development in the province and using that information as a guiding tool in deciding the direction of development of the province, The HDI, a product and a major part of any UNDP HDR, often serves as a reference in measuring development. The Report should allow provincial government in prioritizing activities in their regional development agenda. It is expected to be used as a tool for planning, budgeting, and monitoring. UNDP Indonesia is setting up a team that will be working with local governments in Gorontalo in producing the Gorontalo Provincial HDR/I. The overall task of the team is to produce the Gorontalo HDR/I. The detailed tasks are to: (1) compose HDI of the sub-district (kecamatan) level and HDR of Gorontalo Province; (2) provide capacity building for relevant stakeholders in composing Provincial HDR/I; (3) establish Provincial HDR/I as a benchmark for Gorontalo human development quality;(4) advocate the use of Provincial HDR/I as a tool for planning, budgeting, and monitoring.
