Job opportunity: Scientist, Forests and Climate Change at CIFOR

CIFOR is looking for a scientist to join its Research Team as part of the Environmental Services and Sustainable Use of Forests Program. The scientist will work closely with colleagues in other programs, will help facilitate and identify strategic opportunities, and will be responsible for research and project management, in close consultation with the CIFOR Regional Coordinator for Latin America and under the overall guidance of the respective Programme Director.
The scientist is expected to contribute to forests and climate change research activities in Latin America, including:
  • Undertake relevant research in the context of both mitigation and adaptation science as it relates to forest management and forest-based environmental services
  • Coordinate activities of a CIFOR coordinated project funded by the Spanish Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria on mitigation and adaptation of forests to climate change (Proyecto MIA: Mitigación y Adaptación al Cambio Climático)
  • Coordinate the Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation focus of the CGIAR Amazon Ecoregional Program for the Amazon Initiative.
  • Develop new research initiatives in climate change mitigation and adaptation and participate in fund raising.
